Acting Governor: NCICD Development Aims to Overcome Tidal Floods in Jakarta

Jakarta Acting Governor, Heru Budi Hartono, held an executive meeting (Rapim) discussing the National Capital Integrated Coastal Development (NCICD) sustainable development project along the coast of the Capital City, Tuesday (3/1).

We are trying to make the construction go well

He asserted that the NCICD's national program to build beach embankments and giant sea walls must be completed immediately, thus the tidal flooding problem in Jakarta could be resolved soon. Moreover, the NCICD construction was also able to realize the availability of clean water for residents in North Jakarta.

"If Jakarta wants to be safe from tidal floods, we can anticipate it by building sea walls and beaches. We are trying to make the construction go well," he said.

According to him, this project is a joint responsibility of the central government and the Jakarta Provincial Government through the Water Resources Agency (SDA).

His party wanted to see the NCID development concept jointly initiated by the SDA Agency together with the Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) Ministry. Then he will pass on the results of this meeting to Indonesia's National Development Planning Agency/National Development Planning Agency (Bappenas).

"Tomorrow, the Jakarta Regional Development Planning Agency (Bappeda) will review the NCID development concept. Related to this concept, we synergize with Bappenas," he added.

Jakarta SDA Agency Head, Yusmada Faizal explained that his agency would build an 11-kilometer coastal embankment in four clusters, namely Muara Angke, Pantai Mutiara, Sunda Kelapa, and Blencong River areas.

He went on to say that the area that the embankment had built was 46 kilometers long and 12 kilometers had been worked out by the central government, the remaining 33 kilometers. As for the details of the follow-up development, 11 kilometers will be carried out by the PUPR Ministry, 11 kilometers by the Pelindo company, and 11 kilometers by the SDA Agency.

"We plan to realize them in 2023-2025 by spending a budget of Rp 595 billion. Hopefully, it can be finished quickly," he concluded.
